Hendry Charged with Assaulting Ex
Former Scotland football captain Colin Hendry has been charged with harassing and assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
Former Scotland football captain Colin Hendry has been charged with harassing and assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Hendry, 49, was arrested on April 18 over an allegation of harassment and thathe breached a restraining order by contacting beautician Sarah Kinder. He was later bailed pending further inquiries.
Hendry began seeing her following the death of his wife, Denise, 42, in 2009 following botched cosmetic surgery.
Today, a spokeswoman for Lancashire Constabulary said: Edward Colin Hendry, 49, of Coopers Row, Lytham St Annes, has been charged with harassment without violence and section 39 assault by beating (battery).
He has been bailed to appear at Blackpool Magistrates' Court on May 26. The harassment relates to alleged unwanted emails and occurred between March 1 and April 24 2015 at Lytham. The assault allegedly occurred on April 24.''
Two days before the alleged assault, Hendry was banned from the road for 17 months after he previously pleading guilty to drink-driving.
Hendry enjoyed a long playing career as a central defender and captained his country in the 1998 World Cup. He appeared for a series of clubs including Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers and Glasgow Rangers.
