Mystery surrounds the identity of a man hit by a train at Mount Florida

Mystery surrounds the identity of a man who was hit by a train at Mount Florida station. Officers were called there on Wednesday after reports of a body being found by staff. The man, believed to be in his twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A number of enquiries, including finger print checks, have been carried out but police have been unable to identify him and inform his family.

The man was sallow skinned, slim, had black cropped hair, stubble and a goatee beard. He was wearing a red baseball cap, black jumper with a silver motif, blue jeans and black boots.

He also had tattoos on both arms, which are believed to be of an Egyptian theme.

Detective Inspector Brian McAleese from British Transport Police, said: “We are urgently trying to identify this man so we can locate his family and provide them with any support they need.

''If anyone knows someone matching the above description, I would urge you to contact us as soon as possible.

“The man was last seen on CCTV near to Mount Florida station at approximately 3.50pm on 31 December. Again, anyone who saw this man, or knows who he is then please get in touch.”
