Hamilton man to be sentenced after holding knife to mum's throat and attacking sister
23 year old Michael Douglas turned on the pair before driving while three times over the limit.
A Hamilton man held a knife to his mum's throat and punched his twin sister after a bust up over car keys.
Michael Douglas turned on the pair before getting in the vehicle despite being three times over the drink drive limit.
He was also armed with an air gun as the 23 year-old eventually crashed into a police van.
Douglas, of Hamilton, Lanarkshire, now faces a stint behind bars after he admitted to the crime spree on April 25 last year.
The charges at Glasgow Sheriff Court included two assaults, having an imitation firearm as well as dangerous and drink driving.
He will be sentenced next month.
Douglas had been drinking at a family barbecue in the city's Greenfield when he demanded keys to a Peugeot belonging to his sister Rebecca.
She refused due to the amount of alcohol he had.
But, prosecutor Jennifer McKee explained: "He stated he wanted the 'f***ing key' and pushed her to the ground.
"Douglas then punched her on the face and body."
His mum Anne Douglas, 50, stepped, but she was also attacked.
Miss McKee added: “Douglas held a small black knife against her neck while still demanding the keys to the car.”
His sister eventually handed them over.
Douglas went on to overtake other vehicles and initially hit an NHS car carrying two doctors.
As he raced through the city's east end, he crashed to a halt after smacking into a police van in Shettleston Road.
Sheriff Joan Kerr granted Douglas bail as sentencing was deferred for reports.
