Hamilton man goes running for Ukraine
James Frame is running 31 kilometres per week for a month.
A Hamilton man is setting himself a fitness challenge to help people caught up in Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
James Frame will run 31 kilometres a week for a month which is 1 kilometre for every year it has been an independent country.
He claims a work trip to Kyiv in December is the motivation behind doing something to make a difference.
He told Clyde 1: "I got to meet so many fantastic people there and when you spend a certain period of time with someone then you strike up a bond with them.
"We spoke about our work life and family life and I got to know some of them quite well.
"It is horrific that these people are being forced to take arms in order to stay alive through no fault of their own.
"I also feel bad for those who have fled the country and may never see their families again."
The 38-year-old works for BMW which has nine sites spread around Ukraine.
He added: "I have seen images of two of these sites which have been completely flattened in missile attacks.
"This really heightened it all for me."
James claims he is also enjoying the benefits of all the extra running and the funds raised will go to the British Red Cross who will ensure it goes to the Ukrainian Red Cross.
He said: "My legs are certainly feeling the strain already .
"Thirty-one kilometres is quite a long distance, but the route I am taking around Hamilton has a high elevation so when you take that into consideration it can be a tough run.
"I am keen to make sure that I get to the end of the month to help support the people of Ukraine.
"It is the least I can do."
