Probe centres over a yellow card incident last season
HAMILTON accies youth coach Dougie Imrie has been arrested on allegations of gambling in sport.
It is understood the former club captain was detained on February 28 but has since been released pending further investigation by officers.
In a statement, Hamilton said the contact was made regarding a yellow card incident'' last season.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: A 36-year-old man was arrested on February 28 in connection with a reported incident relating to gambling in sport.
He has been released pending further inquiries.''
Mr Imrie retired from playing at the end of the 2018-19 season as a Hamilton player before becoming a coach for the under-18s side.
The winger enjoyed two spells in Hamilton, as well as playing for Greenock Morton, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Clyde and St Mirren.
A Hamilton Academical spokesman said: On Thursday February 27, one of our senior youth coaches advised HAFC he had been contacted by the police to be questioned in relation to a yellow card incident that took place during season 2018-19.
The coach in question advised us he has since met with the police.
HAFC have not been contacted directly and it is our understanding that no-one has been charged with any offence.
As the police inquiry is ongoing it would be inappropriate for the club to comment any further at this time.''
