Hamilton crash leaves elderly woman seriously injured

An elderly woman is being treated for serious injuries after a crash in Hamilton.

The collision, involving a red Peugeot and the elderly pedestrian, happened on Douglas Park Lane, near to Douglas Retail Park around 11.20am this morning.

The 86-year-old female pedestrian was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Meanwhile, the road was closed to allow enquiries to be carried out and was re-opened around 2pm.

Road Policing Sergeant Chris McColm said: “Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing.

"I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.”
