Scotland's first ever Powerboat Grand Prix is coming to Greenock this weekend (18th & 19th June).

Inverclyde is hosting the latest leg of the P1 Superstock UK Championship which will see 11 teams hurtle round the 2 nautical mile course at speeds of up to 70mph.

Flying the flag for Scotland is the Spirit of Inverclyde team made up of driver, Dino Zavaroni and navigator, Gordon Wicklow.

The event is completely free to attend and Greenock's Esplanade offers an excellent vantage point to take in the action.

Not only will crowds be treated to powerboat racing but over 30 jet skis will also take part in the P1 AquaX UK Championship which consists of both sprint and endurance races.

As well as the on-water action, the event will also host the Inverclyde Showcase where spectators can discover the best of the area's tourism-related business, including leisure activities, visitor attractions, food and drink, and accomodation.
