A man who murdered his neighbour by attacking him with a walking stick in Greenock has died in prison.
A man who murdered his neighbour by attacking him with a walking stick in Greenock has died in prison.
Graeme McLaren attacked James Small in the 64-year-old's flat in 2013 - he was sentenced to 20 years behind bars following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
The Scottish Prison service say the 51 year-old was found dead at Shotts Prison and a fatal accident inquiry may be held in due course.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Prison Service said: “Graeme McLaren, 51, a prisoner at HMP Shotts has died. He was convicted at Glasgow High Court on 17th December 2013.
“Police Scotland have been advised and the matter will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal. Next of kin have been informed and a fatal accident inquiry may be held in due course."
