Man arrested in connection with death of Neil Canney in Greenock

Police have confirmed that a 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of Neil Canney in Greenock.

The 37-year-old was found seriously injured in Nairn Road around 1.15am on Tuesday.

Mr Canney was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance, but died a short time later.

Officers say that inquiries are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
