Govanhill 'left to rot' say locals as they plan a protest march

A protest march demanding better living conditions for local people in Govanhill takes place tomorrow.

Residents told Clyde News they no longer feel safe on the streets and that rubbish is a constant problem

We've been hearing stories about rats, rubbish on the street and human waste on stairwells.

Liz Crosbie runs the Govanhill Community Campaign and told our Senior Reporter, Colin Stone, the area has fallen behind the rest of the city.

An online petition which has garnered more than 1,600 signatures online so far.

Mhairi Hunter is an SNP councillor for the area.

The party took control of the council after winning the most seats in the local elections in May.

She told us the authority has plans to clean up Govanhill.
