Craig Gordon set to miss the rest of the season
Hearts have confirmed their captain suffered a double leg break in their Christmas eve class with Dundee United
Hearts number one Craig Gordon is set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a double leg break in their Christmas Eve clash with Dundee United.
The Edinburgh club confirmed their captain and Scotland number one has had an operation and will be released from hospital in due course.
Former St Johnstone goalkeeper Zander Clark replaced the 39-year-old as a late Lawrence Shankland penalty secured a point for the capital club.
After the match, Hearts manager Robbie Neilson said: "Craig's probably the one that we're really worried about, you know, he's at hospital. It doesn't look great, I'm not going to speculate on it. We'll just wait and see the next few days but our thoughts are with him at the moment and hopefully it's not too bad."
On Zander Clark who's set to step into for Craig Gordon, Neilson added: "One of the reasons we brought him in, with Craig we hoped it would be resting him but it looks as if he's going to be out for a period now.
"It gives Zander an opportunity to come in, he's an international goalkeeper and I'm sure he'll be looking forward to it."
