Glasgow woman raising money for defibrillators given boost after Clyde News story

A charity's given £5,000 to a daughter who's raising money to have defibrillators placed around Glasgow in her dad's memory - after hearing her story on Clyde News.

Her story struck a chord with Dennis from Sunny-sid3up in Govan when he heard it in our bulletin, and he got in touch with Robyn Derrick - whose Dad, Peter, 58, died twelve days after being attacked in the Viceroy Bar.

Now, the money donated by the charity has helped her achieve her target of £12,000, meaning she can install at least five defibrillators around Glasgow and the west.

Peter was working in his pub, The Viceroy Bar on Paisley Road West last month, when he was attacked - he died twelve days later in hospital, on the 29th July.

The five defibrillators will be installed between the pub and Ibrox Stadium in a bid to help someone else have a better chance than he did.

Speaking to Clyde News, Robyn said: "Dennis and Tony from Sunny-sid3up had heard it on Clyde 1 - and then that was it from there.

"They contacted us, came and met us and offered to give us £5,000 which I was so amazed at just how generous they could be."

A fundraiser at the pub after the Old Firm match on 1st September helped the family raise even more money towards Pedro's Heart Starter Fund - the charity they've set up in his memory.

Robyn said: "We've now exceeded our £12,000 so we want to get them right along Paisley Road then we're gonna spread our wings and put one in Govan, one outside Hampden, one outside Parkhead - try and do as many as we can now."
