A Glasgow woman, who found a metal screw in a Marks and Spencer fruit pot, is telling Clyde News she has been put off buying prepackaged food.

Kathryn Wylie was left feeling sick after she made the discovery.

She complained to the department store on Twitter and a spokesperson says they will carry out a full investigation, but the 23 year-old says she does not think she will every find out how it got in there.

Kathryn told Clyde News: "I was typing away at my office desk and took a spoonful of the mango. I was about to take a bite and all I could feel was this metal screw it my mouth.

"I spat it out and I was nearly sick. It was so disgusting.

"The response from M&S has actually been really slow. It took them more than three hours to come back to be on Twitter. I'm not really one to complain but this is out of the norm.

"If they do carry out an investigation, are they really going to admit they are in the wrong? How are they going to explain exactly how a screw this size was able to get into a fruit pot?

"I am lucky. I was just sitting at my desk but imagine a child had been given this. I hate to think of the consequences.

"I've refrained from my lunch today because I usually buy a shop bought salad but this has made me think twice about buying that kind of thing."

An M&S spokesperson: “We’re sorry to hear about Ms Wylie’s complaint, we’ve asked her for some more details and will investigate.”
