People living in the areas of Glasgow worst-affected by rising coronavirus cases are being urged to get tested.

There are concerns that the number of cases could continue to rise, after a number of mass gatherings in the city.

The seven-day average in the city is 94.5 cases per 100,000 people, well above the Level 2 benchmark of 50 cases.

The area of greatest concern there is Pollokshields West, where the latest figures show 1372.8 cases were being reported per 100,000 people.

East Renfrewshire has also seen a jump in the number of cases to 75.4 per 100,000.

Glasgow MSP Paul Sweeney said: "We urge everyone who was out in the Glasgow city centre area to get a test as quickly as possible, and to order lateral flow tests online to ensure that if there are any risks of transmission, we can contain them as much as possible."
