Glasgow Warriors Secure 29-15 Win Against Dragons
Glasgow secured their second win of the season with a deserved 29-15 bonus-point victory over Newport Gwent Dragons.
An open first half ended with the sides locked at 10-10 but Glasgow picked it up in the second half, crossing for early tries from Zander Fagerson and Junior Bulumaku.
A late try from Dragons winger Ashton Hewitt made things interesting until the final minute of the game when a Glasgow maul brought the bonus-point try through Simone Favaro.
Glasgow were forced to make a change after just three minutes when hooker Pat McArthur had to leave the field holding his left wrist and was replaced by Fergus Scott.
Glasgow had the better of early proceedings and took the lead with a 13th-minute penalty from fly-half Rory Clegg.
Jason Tovey missed a 19th-minute penalty for the Dragons but five minutes later they were ahead. Tovey kicked a long-range penalty to the corner and Newport drove a couple of line-out penalties and from the second Rynard Landman crashed over by the posts for Tovey to convert.
Clegg missed a penalty opportunity of his own but Glasgow regained the lead when centre Alex Dunbar, returning from a knee injury, broke deep into the Dragons' 22 and flanker Chris Fusaro went over from a line-out drive and Clegg converted.
Glasgow winger Taqele Naiyaravoro went sent to the sin-bin after taking out Aled Brew in the air and Tovey sent over a simple penalty to send the sides into the break level.
Glasgow came alive with the introduction of former Scotland international Mike Blair from the bench in the 50th minute.
A clever kick and chase from Blair got his side on the front foot and the pressure ended with prop Fagerson touching down and Clegg converting.
The Dragons hit back and built up pressure in the home 22 with Glasgow back-rower Favaro sent to the sin-bin but a dropped pass stopped them in their tracks.
Glasgow went further ahead 10 minutes from time with an unconverted try from winger Bulumaku who got on the end of his own kick to touch down.
Three minutes later an unconverted try from Dragons winger Hewitt got them back into the game but Glasgow claimed the bonus point with the last move of the match.
A giant maul crashed over with Italian debutant flanker Favaro touching down and Clegg converting.
