Glasgow United FC standing by footballer David Goodwillie.
Ninth-tier club brands signing row a "witch hunt".
Glasgow United FC says it's standing by footballer David Goodwillie.
The ex-Scotland international was seen playing for the team during a friendly match earlier this month.
That prompted City Council leader Susan Aitken to threaten to bar the Shettleston-based club from its training facility.
The club is calling the row a "witch hunt which has gone on too long."
The 34 year old and fellow footballer David Robertson were ruled to be rapists in a 2017 civil case.
Glasgow United FC said: "David Goodwillie has never been charged for this offence.
"He has no criminal record and has never appeared on any offenders' register.
"How can he show contrite or remorse for something he staunchly claims he did not do."
Goodwillie, 34, and David Robertson were ruled to be rapists in a 2017 civil case.
The pair were ordered to pay £100,000 in damages after a judge ruled they raped a woman at a property in West Lothian following a night out in January 2011.
