A Holyrood candidate for Glasgow Pollok has been suspended from the Scottish Conservatives, after making 'unacceptable' comments about people who use food banks.

It is reported Craig Ross claimed they are at greater risk of diabetes than hunger.

The party is now investigating.

A spokesman said: "These unacceptable comments do not reflect the views of the party."

Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf, who is the current MSP for Pollok, said: "His remarks that those who use foodbanks 'are far from starving' are utterly heartless."
