With the start of the Olympics in Rio just days away Glasgow is celebrating the success of Scottish athletes when the city hosted the Commonwealth Games two years ago.

The success of competitors like swimmer Ross Murdoch who won gold in the 200 metres breastroke, cyclist Katie Archibald who won bronze at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and bowler Alex "Tattie" Marshall who scooped gold will be celebrated.

Commemorative plaques will be unveiled at some of the venues dotted across the city where the record 53 medals were won including Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls & Tennis Centre, Tollcross International Swimming Centre, and the Emirates Arena & Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

Many of the record 48 Scots who made it into the Team GB squad are already in Rio making their final preparations with the opening ceremony on Friday.
