Three months of roadworks are starting in the north of Glasgow this morning to strengthen a bridge over a railway.

Network Rail is carrying out repairs to the bridge which carries Dalsholm Road across the tracks near Kelvindale station.

4-way traffic lights will be in place from today until November, affecting drivers using Dalsholm Road, Clevedon Road, Skaethorn Road and Temple Road.

The £1m upgrade will make the bridge stronger as well as replacing missing stonework, clearing vegetation and installing new fencing.

Train services on the line through Kelvindale will not be affected.

Stephen Orr, project manager, Network Rail, said: “We’ve worked with Glasgow City Council to plan and deliver the work required and have found a way to do this while avoiding the need to close the road completely.

“While we appreciate that disruption to the road network is never ideal, carrying out an extensive programme of repair and maintenance on the structure now will keep it operational for longer without any further significant interventions.

“We thank everyone for their patience and will carry out this work as quickly as possible.”
