Glasgow road set to close for 11 months
St George's Road will be shut while cycle lanes are built
Roadworks set to last for 48 weeks are set to begin on St George’s Road from today (Monday March 17).
Drivers will need to follow a diversion while the southbound lane is local access only between West Princes Street and Carnarvon Street, however the northbound lane will remain open for the remainder of the works.
New cycle lanes will be put in place between from Charing Cross and connect Sauchiehall Street Avenue and the city centre to the existing Garscube Road cycle lanes.
Roadworks to take at least 48 weeks
The work will begin at the southwest end of St George’s Road to continue on from existing improvements at Charing Cross.
Works will include the two way cycle lane, improved street lighting, upgraded traffic signals, new crossing points, new soft landscaping and trees, relocating the access point on Clarendon Place from St George’s Road to Maryhill Road, and the closure of Glenfarg Street to through traffic.
More information on the closures can be found on the council’s website.
