A Glasgow pensioner who bet £30,000 on a Conservative majority in the General Election has collected his £240,000 winnings.

A Glasgow pensioner who bet £30,000 on a Conservative majority in the General Election has collected his £240,000 winnings.

Bookmaker Ladbrokes made an appeal for him to come forward after the election because he was yet to collect the money.

The bet was placed at odds of 7/1 at a branch in the city.

Alex Donohue from Ladbrokes, said: "We congratulate him on his record-breaking election win."
