A 35-year-old motorist has admitted driving carelessly and causing the death of another man in a crash near Beattock.
51-year-old Michael Anderson from Dalbeattie died following a two-car crash on the A701 in February last year.
At Dumfries Sheriff Court 35-year-old John McVeigh from Glasgow, admitted losing control of his vehicle, causing it to enter the opposing carriageway and collide with Mr Anderson’s car.
The court heard that investigations showed that Mr Anderson had braked to avoid the collision- but the cars met head-on.
Fiscal depute Jennifer McGill said: “There were no mechanical faults that could have contributed to the accident.”
Mr Anderson had died as a result of multiple injuries and Mr McVeigh had been trapped in his car and suffered leg injuries.
An advocate for McVeigh said he wanted to apologise to the relatives and friends of Mr Anderson for the tragic death.
Sentence was deferred for background reports to October 4
