A man who raped a woman while she slept was snared when she recorded him confessing to the crime.
36 year-old Alan Lee preyed on his victim who had initially thought he was a “cool” person.
The woman – who was 12 years younger – was “scared” at first to go to the police.
It was a friend who urged her to try and capture Lee admitting to what he had done.
She went on to confront him that he should not have sex with someone when they are not awake.
Lee was then recorded stating: “Yes, I know that now.”
The woman went to police in 2017 leading to her attacker appearing at the High Court in Glasgow.
Lee now faces a lengthy jail after he was found guilty of a rape charge.
He was remanded in custody and will learn his fate next month.
Prosecutors listed the crime as occurring between 2010 and 2017 at Lee's flat in the city's St George's Cross and an address in Barrhead, Renfrewshire.
The victim had known Lee since she was a teenager.
After the first attack, the woman did not initially realise what happened was wrong.
But, she went on to recall feeling “dirty, used and horrible”.
The woman also made internet searches to try and find out what happened was illegal.
She challenged Lee at one point – but did not take the matter further.
The trial heard the woman later learned Lee had an apparently compromising photo of her.
She eventually decided to record herself confronting Lee about the rapes.
But, prosecutor Shanti Maguire told jurors: “She did not intend to go to the police.
“This recording was not done out of vindictiveness. She felt she had to protect herself if this evidence (the photo) was to come out about her.”
Miss Maguire added Lee was taped making “specific admissions to specific allegations”
It was a relative of the woman who later told her to go to the police.
Lee went on to deny the claims at trial insisting any sex was consensual.
Lord Arthurson deferred sentencing for reports.
