A Glasgow man has been fined for sectarian singing at Ibrox.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court today, Scott McEwan was fined £400 for offensive chanting and singing during a match at Ibrox on 27 August 2013.

During the evening kick-off between Rangers and Berwick, McEwan, from Glasgow, was observed chanting and singing offensive songs which included lyrics promoting a proscribed terrorist organisation.

Speaking following today’s hearing Stephen Ferguson, Football Liaison Prosecutor for the West of Scotland, said:

"Whilst we wholeheartedly encourage fans to get behind their team and enjoy the atmosphere of the games we will not allow bigots to use them as a platform to show support for proscribed terrorist organisations.

"We will continue to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to such behaviour and bring perpetrators to justice."
