Glasgow man accused of causing death by careless driving in Lockerbie

A 35-year-old Glasgow man’s appeared in court motorist accused of causing the death of his passenger in a van on the M74 near Lockerbie.

A 35-year-old Glasgow man’s appeared in court motorist accused of causing the death of his passenger in a van on the M74 near Lockerbie.

Graeme Brett, from Garrowhill, pleaded not guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court to driving carelessly and colliding with the rear of a lorry near Junction 17 in August 2015.

His passenger, 52-year-old Paul Brown, from Motherwell, died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.

Mr Brett will stand trial later this month.
