The Grosvenor Cinema in the west end of Glasgow is celebrating it's 100th annivesary by opening up again after two years of silence during the Covid pandemic.
The Ashton Lane venue, which claims to be Glasgow’s oldest cinema ,has been extensively renovated and now boasts an art deco design complete with cosy leather armchairs, personal tables and empire lamps.
Robert Murphy, manager of the Grosvenor, said: “My vision for the cinema is to make it the best cinema experience, not just in Glasgow, but the whole of Scotland.
“It’s an intimate location that offers a personable touch to our customers, which makes us stand out from the crowd of big cinema chains where nobody really pays attention to you.
Tom Cruise sell-out
“Top Gun Maverik has already sold out, but even films playing for a while are still proving popular", says Robert.
“I’ve been in cinema for twenty years, but this has really got me back to the love of cinema.
“To say I’m the general manager of such an iconic venue, well, that’s pretty cool.”
The cinema opens today at 12:15 with screenings of Top Gun: Maverik, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Downton Abbey: A New Era.
