Glasgow drug trafficker has possessions confiscated
A criminal who made more than £400,000 from drug trafficking is to lose a valuable Rolex watch under a confiscation order.
Gary Corkindale (39) was jailed along with an accomplice after police moved in on a van loaded with valium.
The haul was worth more than £370,000 on the streets.
Corkindale was originally jailed for eight years after he was arrested following a tip-off that the hire van parked in Possilpark, in Glasgow, contained drugs.
Police opened the van and found cardboard boxes and sealed packages containing the diazepam inside the vehicle.
The Crown raised proceedings to seize crime profits from Corkindale following his conviction at the High Court in Glasgow.
Defence solicitor advocate Graeme Brown told the High Court in Edinburgh today that a two-day hearing in the action had been set down for this week, but an agreement was reached to settle the case.
Mr Brown said that the available amount for a confiscation order was £30,000 and that the bulk of that was made up of a Volkswagen car and a watch of "substantial value" _ a Rolex Yacht Master timepiece.
Advocate depute Dan Byrne said that under the agreement Corkindale's benefit from drug trafficking was assessed as £430,549.87
Lord Pentland said he would give effect to the agreement between the parties and make a confiscation order for £30,000
