Glasgow council leader Susan Aitken slams Celtic and Rangers for football chaos
The head of the council says she has written to both clubs in the past about this type of behaviour.
The leader of Glasgow City Council Susan Aitken is hitting out at Celtic and Rangers after chaos broke out in the centre yesterday before the Cup final at Hampden.
Disruption started just before 12.30pm on Argyle Street and one officer was injured in the brawl between fans from both sides where missiles were thrown.
Police Scotland said it also had reports of windows being smashed on Howard Street.
Susan Aitken said: “To say this behaviour is unacceptable is an understatement - but what’s particularly concerning is that this kind of thing keeps happening.
“I wrote to both Celtic and Rangers after the similar incidents that took place around Hampden last year and they did nothing.
“The football industry seems to be quite happy to make money off these thugs while decent folk have to live with the consequences. That’s not good enough.”
