The Glasgow comedian Janey Godley has died of cancer.
The 63-year-old had been receiving end of life care in a hospice after announcing her cancer had returned.
She made appearances on TV shows River City and The Alex Salmond Show and was well known for posting spoof videos online which went viral.
Her daughter, Ashley Storrie shared the news to social media on Saturday morning in a video statement, where she thanked friends and family for their support.
"I believe in my hearts of hearts that she felt every bit of love you sent her"
She added: "I think, genuinely, we got her longer because of all of the support and love in the world but, that’s it, it’s over now.
"So thank you once again, bye ma’ – ‘Frank get the door.’”
"She made the world a better place and we will all miss her"
She gained fans during in 2020 when she did voiceovers of Nicola Sturgeon's daily Covid briefings, becoming known for her catchphrase "Frank, get the door", as the former First Minister was leaving after each update.
Ms Sturgeon posted to social media saying: "In the toughest of times, she made people laugh - and that was precious.
"She did more that that though. In managing to project the serious public health messages of my briefings to a much wider audience than I would have managed alone, she helped save lives."
The former First Minister continued, "I was so proud to call Janey a friend and will miss her hugely", adding, "I know Frank will have been there, holding the door for her as she went - with a tear in his eye, as I have in mine. RIP my friend".
Leader of the Scottish Labour party Anas Sarwar said in a post to X, formerly Twitter: "A leading light of Scottish comedy who faced cancer with a bravery and humour that moved us all."
"It was always really important to her to have new comedians on"
Paying tribute, Paisley comedian Liam Farrelly told Clyde 1: "When I started out, she was running a gig at Wild Cabaret in Glasgow.
"It was always really important to her to have new comedians on and to give them a space to try out new material.
"She used to put me on at that gig a lot and made sure I was getting better.
"It must have been such a small thing to her but to me it was massive."
In November 2021, she first announced she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer on Twitter and was being treated in hospital.
She had a full hysterectomy and revealed she was cancer-free in June 2022.
However, the disease had returned later that year.
"She didn't suffer fools gladly"
Liam added: "Janey was always full of advice and helpful tips about how to conduct myself around the industry.
"Most of my memories of her are watching her tearing into someone in a crowd - she didn't suffer fools gladly.
"She would always put people in their place in a really funny way."
