Cineworld has apologised to customers evacuated from an 18-screen complex in the dark after a power cut.
Cinema-goers at Renfrew Street, Glasgow, complained of being left to walk down pitch black'' fire escapes during the incident on Saturday evening.
The cinema building, said to be the world's tallest, remained shut on Sunday while work is carried out on its emergency lighting system.
A statement from Cineworld said: The safety of everyone under our roof is always our primary concern and staff responded promptly, alerted the fire brigade and escorted customers outside.
The cinema is currently closed while we work hard to resolve an issue with our emergency lighting.
We're really sorry for the disruption and would like to thank customers for their patience.
We hope to reopen as soon as possible.''
Customers told of having to use their phone as a torch to find their way out of the building following the power cut at around 7pm.
One cinema-goer tweeted: ''Made to evacuate from the 5th floor - 10 plus flights of stairs in complete darkness, no emergency lighting and no staff present.''
Another said: ''Power cut in building, so dangerously lead down a pitch black fire escape with no torches.'' Cineworld said customers who have purchased tickets for Renfrew Street can claim a full refund through customer services on 0333 003 3444.
