Direct flights to Milan, Madrid and Barcelona could soon return to Glasgow Airport as bosses announce a £350m refurbishment plan.

Bosses want to introduce more retailers and restaurants into the departure lounge.

Kam Jandu, Chief Executive of AGS Airports which owns Aberdeen and Southampton airports met with the Deputy First Minister, Kate Forbes earlier.

He said: “AGS plays a critical role in driving economic and social prosperity across Scotland and the UK.

"We have ambitious plans for the long-term, sustainable growth of our airports including the strengthening of our connectivity which underpins the success of the regions we serve."

This is how the airport could look once passengers are through security.

AGS Airports was bought over by AviAlliance, one of the world's leading private airport operators earlier this year for £1.53 billion.

Deputy First Minister of Scotland Kate Forbes said: “This significant investment in Scotland by AGS will bring incredible benefits through improved infrastructure at both Glasgow and Aberdeen airports, and to our wider economy."
