Paul Gascoigne is making an appeal to a missing Cambuslang teenager to get in touch with his family.

The former Rangers star's recorded a video message to 16-year-old Kai Rae, who hasn't been seen since Monday morning.

The student mechanic was last seen at his home in Halfway just after 9am.

In the short clip shared on Twitter he said: "Hi Kai, it's Gazza here. Do us a favour, please get home. People are missing you!"

Volunteers are planning more searches for him today.

On Wednesday evening dozens of people joined family members searching a Cambuslang park.

Cousin Ashley Burns, said: "We are devastated. That is the only word to use.

"He is only a young kid, he is very vulnerable.

"He is a loving wee boy, very loving, very caring.

"He is just a typical teenager."

Another of Kai's cousins, Craig Kirk, said: "It doesn't matter what has happened, or why he has run away or whatever else.

"The priority just now is getting him home safe."

The search was organised by local man James Fisher.

He said: "If it was my kid, I would like support from everybody else.

"There is a lot of support, this is a local group."

Speaking exclusively to Clyde News on Tuesday, Kai's dad put out a plea to his son.

Cameron Rae said: "Kai, please just come home.

“Your mum and I just want to see you back safe.”
