Police probing the unexplained deaths of two women, possibly thought to be from carbon monoxide poisoning, say no gas fault has been found at their flat in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to the property on Dalserf Court in the east end yesterday at around midday.

The bodies of two women, who have now been named as 46 year old Sharon Archibald nee Dodd and her sister-in-law 51 year old Mary Archibald, were found inside.

Police and the fire service sealed off the flat and evacuated nearby properties over fears they had died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Following tests by the Health and Safety Executive and Scottish Gas, no faults have been found in the boiler and there are no other gas appliances inside.

Clyde News understands all the properties in the area, owned by the West of Scotland Housing Association, have recently had new boilers installed.

The housing association says they are aware of the incident and their "thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those involved.

"As this is an ongoing police investigation it would be inappropriate to comment further until the investigation is complete.”

The results of the post-mortems and toxicology are still be revealed however.
