Tributes to Glasgow Labour councillor after sudden death
Tributes are being paid to a Glasgow Labour councillor, who has died suddenly at the age of 50.
Gary Gray, who represented the Canal ward, passed away over the weekend.
In a Tweet, the Glasgow Labour Group said: " We are deeply saddened by the news that our comrade & colleague Gary Gray has passed away suddenly.
"Gary was a committed socialist who loved being a Councillor representing the Canal ward.
"Our thoughts continue to be with Gary’s friends, family, all those who knew & loved him."
Health Secretary Humza Yousaf sent his condolences, calling the news "dreadfully sad".
He added: "Thinking of Labour colleagues who have lost a dear friend, indeed Glasgow has lost a dedicated servant too."
Scottish Conservative Councillor Thomas Kerr, who represents Shettleston, said: "I know I speak for my entire group when I say Gary will be deeply missed by us all - he was such a joy to work with and a real champion for his community."
