Anyone in need of support can call our dedicated helpline 0141 287 0999.

Lord Provost Sadie Docherty said: “We have had tremendous offers of support already. Glaswegians started calling us to offer donations almost as soon as this tragic incident happened.

“That’s heart-warming but not surprising in a city which responds so well to tragedy.”

Following Monday's tragic accident in George Square in which six people were killed, Clyde 1 and Clyde 2 came together to broadcast rolling news updates from the scene.

Now the stations are coming together again to support the families of the victims.

In the aftermath of the accident, many listeners contacted us to suggest that the £12,000 prize from our 12Ks of Christmas promotion could be used to help the families of those who died.

We would still like one of our listeners to have a great Christmas and win the prize money as planned on Christmas Eve.

Radio Clyde is making a donation of a further £12,000 to a fund to support the families of the victims of yesterday’s crash in George Square.

A spokesperson for Clyde 1 said: “Following yesterday’s tragic events, we wanted to show our support for the victims and their families and have liaised with Glasgow City Council with regards to setting up its Appeal fund. Our thoughts are with those affected during this terrible time.
