Fresh Sighting of Missing Glasgow Pensioner Janet McKay
Detectives searching for a vulnerable 88-year-old woman have confirmed a fresh sighting of her on the day she went missing.
Janet McKay, who has dementia, left her home in Dykebar Avenue in the Knightswood area of Glasgow last Wednesday and has not contacted her family since.
She was seen by neighbours in the street at around midday and police appealed for any further sightings of her in the area.
Officers today found that Ms McKay was seen on CCTV between 1pm and 2pm leaving a bus in Glasgow Road, Clydebank.
Chief Inspector John McBride said: "This is the first confirmed sighting of Janet since she went missing, and it would appear she's travelled to the Clydebank area.
"I need people in Clydebank and surrounding areas to help us, can you check your gardens, outbuildings, sheds - Janet may have taken refuge there.
"Although this CCTV sighting is a week ago, when she went missing, I need people to help us, cast your mind back, did you see a woman fitting Janet's description in those areas?
"Can you help with any information, however insignificant you might feel it is? Please call police immediately on 101.''
Officers returned to Knightswood today to speak to pedestrians and motorists, handing out leaflets about Ms McKay's disappearance and also searching nearby gardens.
They also issued images of a light cream jacket and brown handbag Ms McKay had when she went missing. She is believed to have also been wearing dark trousers, dark maroon boots and could possibly have a pink jacket with her.
She is described as white, 4ft 10in, with a slight build and short grey/white hair.
