Former military personnel and volunteers with the veterans charity Erskine are holding a Remembrance Day service in Bishopton this morning.

They'll lay wreaths and hold a two minute silence at 11am to pay tribute to all the men and women who've lost their lives in conflict.

Ian Cumming is the Chief Executive of Erskine Veterans Charity.

Chief Executive Ian Cumming told Clyde 1: "We have a wide range of veterans from those who are just 19 years old to others who are in their late nineties.

"They have all served and many of them have experienced danger and encountered loss.

"They've all served with mad junior officers, stern regimental sergeant majors and warrant officers.

"What is really special about working here is that you can see an 18-year-old and a 90-year-old sit down and have lunch together and it feels like they are related.

"They've all got so much in common."

People all over Glasgow and the West will be marking Armistice Day in their own way including Craig Curtis from Lanark.

Craig served in the forces before opening a gym in Lanark with his brother.

The former soldier turned gym owner will be turning the music down and asking people to reflect for two minutes.

He told Clyde 1: "I saw first hand for myself what wartime is like and days like this remind me to sit back and think about colleagues I lost.

"I learnt a lot about past conflicts when I served and it really opened my eyes.

"My three brothers also served in the forces and from time to time we will talk about past colleagues we served with."
