Foodbank founder to stand trial accused of embezzlement

The founder of a foodbank is to stand trial later this year for allegedly embezzling £15,000.

Julie Webster, 41, is charged with pocketing the money between March and December 2015 from Greater Maryhill foodbank.

Webster, from Summerston, Glasgow pled not guilty through a letter from her lawyer when the case called at the city’s sheriff court.

Prosecutors claim that she did 'while coordinator of Greater Maryhill foodbank, embezzle £15,000' from the foodbank at Chapel Street.

A trial was set for June.
