The founder of a foodbank charged with allegedly embezzling £15,000 is no longer facing trial.

Julie Webster, 42, was charged with pocketing the money between March and December 2015 from Greater Maryhill Foodbank at Chapel Street.

Prosecutors claimed that she did "while coordinator of Greater Maryhill foodbank, embezzle £15,000".

Webster, from Summerston, Glasgow has always denied the charge when the case has called at the city's sheriff court.

She was due to go on trial this week at the court but the case was not called.

A Crown Office spokesman said: "It is the duty of the Crown to keep cases under review and after full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances, including the available admissible evidence, the Procurator Fiscal instructed there should be no further proceedings at this time.

“Should the evidential position change, the Crown reserve the right to raise proceedings."
