Developers behind controversial plans to build a Flamingo Land resort at Loch Lomond are meeting with Balloch and Haldane Community Council tonight.

The proposals are to build 100 forest lodges, a budget hotel with an indoor swimming pool.

Last year over 65 thousand people signed a petition against the development proposals.

Fiona Robertson from Lomond Banks told Clyde 1: "The planning application has been stuck with the National Park for about a year and a half.

"The original programme had envisaged that we would be going for detailed planning permission on individual parcels of land with a site start next year.

"All of this is now significantly delayed."

Local jobs promised

Plans involve the creation of 200 full, part-time and seasonal roles within the resort.

Fiona added: "The site has been identified as suitable for tourism development for a long time and we are keen to create local jobs and apprenticeships for the construction phase.

"We will also work with existing businesses including construction, operations and a whole range of other services - our commitment is to use local."

We've contacted Balloch and Haldane Community Council for an interview.
