Five in court over Old Firm 'disorder'

Five men have appeared in court charged with offences relating to the Old Firm match.

Steven Malaney, 24, Derek Martin, 26, Christopher Pollock, 21, Colin Hoodless, 39 and Ryan Maclellan, 18, face charges contrary to the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act.

They each appeared from custody yesterday (Mon) and denied the various charges that are said to have taken place on March 12.

Celtic and Rangers drew 1-1 at Sunday's match at Celtic Park in Glagow's Parkhead.

Malaney, from Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire allegedly repeatedly shouted and swore and did “utter sectarian, homophobic and threatening remarks” at the stadium.

Martin, from Dalmarnock, Glasgow, is accused of shouting, swearing and repeatedly making racist remarks at Westmuir Street while travelling to the game.

He also faces a charge of repeatedly shouting and swearing and uttering abusive remarks while travelling in a police car between Westmuir Street and Cathcart police office.

Pollock, from Armadale, West Lothian allegedly shouted a sectarian remark towards opposition supporters and Hoodless, from Gourock, Renfrew is accused of singing sectarian song lyrics and gesture in an aggressive manner towards opposition fans, both at Celtic Park.

Maclellan from Lesmahagow is accused of repeatedly shouting and uttering offensive remarks at London Road, near the Parkhead stadium.

The men were all released on bail and trial dates were set for August.
