Police have said a fire at a block of flats in Clydebank was deliberate.

No one was hurt in the blaze which broke out around half 6 in a rubbish chute at Park Court, Littleholm Place in Dalmuir on Friday, but officers say it could have had "horrific consequences"

They are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious to get in touch.

Detective Constable Iain Allison, of Clydebank CID, said: “No one was injured but this fire could have had horrific consequences in such a high storey block.

"Fortunately the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished it quickly.

“The fire is being treated as wilful and we are carrying out a joint investigation with the SFRS. Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to get in touch.

“If you can help with our enquiries please call us on 101, quoting incident 2935 of Friday, 30 April, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
