Fire fighters are damping down the flats at Lancefield Quay which were affected by a large-scale fire last night.

Crews were called around 6:43pm on Monday to a "well developed fire" beside the River Clyde.

Around 60 fire fighters were on the scene battling the blaze.

Police confirmed there are no reported casualties.

Pictures show flames protruding from the roof of the building.

It's thought to have broken out on the second floor at number 81.

It spread to the blocks on either side before it was brought under control late into the night.

Sheena Anderson, who lives in the building, said: "I am feeling absolutely gutted that this has happened, especially at this time of year.

"I have been gutted with fire before and I know how it was then, I was out for so long.

"This has been my dream house for 17 years after I got divorced, and I just don't know how I will go from here."

Anthony McFeat lives a couple of doors along from where the fire broke out.

He said: "I only moved in in May this year.

"I've heard a couple of stories of people trying to get Christmas presents out their flats and away from the fire.

"I managed to grab a few things but you just grab what you can and I was out in a flash.

"It's things that can't be replaced - hopefully the insurance will pay for all the other things."

A number of roads in the surrounding area have been cordoned off.

Glasgow City Council say Lancefield Quay is closed eastbound at the junction with Finnieston Street.

Anderston Quay is also closed westbound at its junction with North Street.

Residents affected were put up in a nearby hotel.

Clyde News understands there's going to be a meeting this morning involving all the agencies including the council's structural engineers - and residents will be getting an update on the situation later this morning.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "We were alerted at 6.43pm on Monday December 9 to reports of a building fire in Glasgow.

"Operations Control mobilised a total of 15 fire appliances to the city's Lancefield Quay, where firefighters were met by a well-developed fire within the second floor of a three-storey building.

"Firefighters worked through the night towards extinguishing the fire.

"There are currently five fire appliances remaining at the scene, where firefighters are presently dampening down remaining hot spots and working to make the area safe.

"There are no casualties."
