'Keep windows closed': Fire at Kinning Park industrial estate

Nine fire trucks and two high-reach operations were sent to the scene

Firefighters are battling a blaze at an industrial estate in Glasgow.

Nearby residents in Kinning Park have been urged to keep their windows and doors shut to prevent smoke inhalation.

Members of the public have been told to avoid the area as Stanley Street and Milne Park Street remain closed.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 6.45am on Thursday to reports of a fire at a commercial building.

Nine fire trucks, alongside two high-reach vehicles, attended the blaze in a "single-storey storage unit".

As of 9am, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters remain at the scene.

A spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 6.46am on Thursday July 31 to reports of a commercial building fire at Stanley Street, Glasgow.

"Operations control mobilised nine appliances and two high-reach vehicles to the scene and firefighters are currently working to extinguish the fire affecting a single-storey storage unit.

"There are no casualties and crews remain on the scene.

"Members of the public have been advised to stay away from Stanley Street and Milne Park Street, which are closed.

"Residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed to prevent smoke inhalation."
