Around 40 firefighters have been battling another major blaze in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Pitt Street at around 1.52am on Sunday 15th December where the fire had broken out in a takeaway restaurant.

The flames spread to a four-storey building above - but there are no reported casualties.

Crews have now put out the blaze but remain on the scene to work to ensure the area is made safe.

Area Commander Garry MacKay said: “It was a very challenging incident and crews worked incredibly hard to extinguish the fire and ensure all properties were searched and cleared.

“Firefighters are now aggressively cutting away parts of the building to ensure there is no hidden fire spread.”
