Police are investigating whether two fires in recent days could have been started by the same people.

At 3.20pm on Friday, 27 December fire fighters were called out to deal with a blaze which had been discovered in a common close at Ferguslie Walk in Paisley.

The next day, Saturday 28th, a crew extinguished another fire in a close which happened at around 7.20pm in Millarston Drive in the town.

Both fires were put out without anyone being hurt.

Officers believe the incidents are linked.

Detective Constable Jack McElwee said: “We will continue to check any relevant CCTV footage for any additional information. In the meantime, I would appeal to anyone who was in these areas around the time of the incidents to consider if they noticed anything suspicious or unusual.

I would also ask people with dash cams and doorbell recording equipment to view their footage as it could hold images which may be significant in our inquiries."
