Recycling centre ablaze in Glasgow's east end

Fire crews are remain at the scene of a blaze at a recycling plant in the east end of Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Nuneaton Street just after 5pm on Tuesday.

The A728 Clyde Gateway remains closed from London Road to Dalmarnock Road, as well as a section of Nuneaton Street from London Road to Dalmarnock Road.

It's the second major blaze at the site this year.

Alarm raised at rush hour

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 5.08pm on Tuesday, 6 June to a fire within the grounds of a recycling centre on Nuneaton Street, Glasgow.

"Operations Control mobilised seven appliances and a specialist resource to scene.

"Crews remain in attendance. There are no reported casualties."

Firefighting operations continued through the night.

By 6am the number of appliances had been reduced to three, but crews had yet to extinguish the fire.
