Hollywood stars are hitting the streets of Glasgow city centre to film scenes for the new Indiana Jones movie.

Harrison Ford is set to reprise his role as the adventurer in the film which also stars Pheobe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen.

Renfield Street, West Nile Street and St. Vincent Street are among those which have been given a make over to look like America in the 1960s.

Star-spangled banners and bunting can be seen as well as vintage shop fronts.

Some scenes for the blockbuster have already been filmed in the Scottish Borders last month.

The set in Glasgow has been getting built gradually over the last four weeks.

One passer by told Clyde 1 why the city is the ideal place to replicate parts of America: "The wide streets and wide pavements lend themselves nicely to other cities.

"It's built on a grid system and it looks a bit like an American city like New York."

Some avid film fans couldn't contain their excitement and say they're eager to see some action.

"We just decided to drive into the city centre to have a look around and we'll watch the movie at home when it is released.

"We are loving the interesting sets and layouts of the streets with American designs."

Colin Edgar from Glasgow City Council explains why the re-building of the city centre in the 19th century makes it an attractive place for filmmakers.

"These fantastic buildings, the beautiful architecture and grid structures are what a lot of American cities have based their own structure on.

"If you want to tell a story in New York or Philadelphia then Glasgow is a great place to come and tell that story.

"While the filmmakers are working really hard they have not really built anything.

"All they've had to do is put up some bunting and re-name some of the shops."
