A 66-year-old woman has been killed In a road traffic accident in Lanark

A 66-year-old woman has died in Lanark after a road accident.

The crash happened at around 3pm on Tuesday involving a Vauxhall Zafira and a Ford Focus on Lanark Road, Lanark.

Emergency services attended the crash however the 66-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a passenger in the Vauxhall Zafira.

Her relatives have been made aware and a full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

The 48-year-old driver of the Vaxhalls Zafira and the 24-year-old driver of the Ford Focus have been taken to the University Hospital in Wishaw where both of their conditions have been described as stable.

Sergeant Craig McDonald of the Road Policing Unit at Motherwell is appealing for any witnesses. He said: “Our investigation into this crash is continuing. I would appeal to any witnesses to this crash, or anyone who was driving on the road at the time who has dash cam footage to contact us.

“Information can be passed to the Road Policing Unit at Motherwell through 101 quoting reference number 1904 of 3rd March.”
