Fans Sing Sectarian Songs On Cross Border Train

Published 9th Nov 2015

British Transport Police is trying to put names to a group of Rangers fans who sang sectarian songs on a cross-border train at the weekend.

The group of around 20 men got on board a service from Manchester Airport to Lancaster at 10.15 on Saturday morning.

They were believed to be heading for the SPFL game against Alloa.

Officers say the singing of religiously offensive songs continued until the train reached Glasgow two hours later.

Constable Gordon Anderson, the BTP officer in charge of the enquiry, is appealing for anyone who was on the train and witnessed the behaviour of the supporters to contact BTP.

British Transport Police can be contacted on 080 40 50 40 or by texting 61016. Information can also be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
